Roman Reigns, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, was injured while battling Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat Match at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event from Ford Field on Saturday night. When Jimmy Uso cost his brother the match, Reigns was able to win the bout.

On today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned that Reigns was hurt during the match. Although it’s unknown what the actual injury was, it’s believed that it occurred early on.

Reigns has been booked to appear on Friday’s episode of SmackDown for a Hail The Tribal Chief segment. It’s not clear if he’ll work Payback on September 2 or Fastlane on October 7.

While there was word going around after SummerSlam 2023 that Reigns was not advertised for any WWE TV events in the coming months, Fightful stated that, for the time being, “there aren’t plans for him to miss his internally scheduled appearances. That is always subject to change.”
