What Was SummerSlam’s Highlight? (Monday Morning Q&A)
– ADVERTISMENT –

Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.

So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!

1) What do you think was the biggest highlight of SummerSlam?

Iyo Sky cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase. It’s one of the only things that actually moved anything forward (as for instance, Cody Rhodes beating Brock Lesnar doesn’t do anything that he didn’t accomplish the first time he beat him). Iyo is no rookie. We’ve seen her with the NXT Women’s Championship. But she’s still a fresh main roster world champion, so it’ll be good to see her up against people going forward to change up the scenery a bit.

2) How are you hoping the Bloodline storyline goes next? Are you satisfied with this Jimmy Uso heel turn?

I saw that coming from a mile away and I’m not at all considering this worth spending the past 4 months building toward. This is lame. It’s just screaming to me that WWE is obsessed with The Bloodline in and of itself and even if they don’t have anything going on, that they’re more likely to keep messing around with the inner-guts of the group than to expand outward and set up other contenders.

How would I want it to go next? Realistically, you can’t not do Jimmy vs. Jey now. So let’s just get that out of the way for Payback. Then, have Roman Reigns reestablish his dominance (which he hasn’t done in a long time as he just keeps winning matches via interference) and have the rest of them fall into line. No more in-fighting. The story isn’t interesting anymore with that angle. Give me something new. I don’t need to hear more “But you’re family. How could you do this?” promos.

3) Is it better for RVD to fight Jack Perry for the FTW Championship on Dynamite, or do you think AEW should have saved this for All In or All Out?

It’s a tough thing to answer without knowing what else is set for the lineup. In the coming weeks, we could see so many matches added that are great that this being used to pop a rating on television is a better idea. But if they have nothing else lined up for Jack Perry—not even a rematch against Hook—then they absolutely should have booked it for the pay-per-views instead.

My gut tells me All Out is going to have the Hook match and that Perry won’t defend the FTW Championship at All In whatsoever, in which case, RVD probably should’ve been used for that. But let’s see what else ends up being added to the card. For my money, RVD vs. Perry is more of an eye-catcher than Samoa Joe vs. CM Punk, I’ll say that.

4) Who turns heel first between Ilja Dragunov, Trick Williams, Wes Lee, or Thea Hail?

Preference? I’d turn Dragunov way before the others. But as far as predictions are concerned, I don’t think any of them are turning heel particularly soon. Some of them probably won’t at all, like Wes Lee or Thea Hail. But I do think we could see Trick Williams turning heel on Hayes at some point later this year or in 2024 to tell that feud, since WWE loves having partners against each other. The only real question is whether or not Dragunov will have turned heel by then, which I do still think is going to happen, ultimately. I can see them turning him before calling him up to the main roster rather than trying to debut him as a babyface, as that’s harder to pull off.

5) Now that SummerSlam is out of the way, what do you think will be the 4 world title matches at WrestleMania 40?

  • Roman Reigns vs either Cody Rhodes or The Rock
  • Seth Rollins vs Gunther
  • Iyo Sky will have dropped the women’s title to Charlotte Flair, who will fight Bianca Belair
  • Rhea Ripley vs Becky Lynch
