The direction of Jay White (or lack thereof) in AEW draws comparisons to WCW, according to Konnan.
White, a former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, debuted for AEW in 2022 and would sign a contract in April 2023, after exiting New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Speaking about White on his “K100” podcast, Konnan said the New Zealand wrestler isn’t the only star going improperly used, and compared this to WCW. He said,
“How many wrestlers are not used correctly on that show? It almost reminds me of WCW, look at all the mid-card talent we had from Disco to Rey Mysterio to Chris Jericho to everybody in between and you could only get to a certain level and it wasn’t our fault.
“I can’t put this totally on Jay because I think what they’ve asked him to do he’s done a good job.”
White was in action on last week’s AEW Collision, where he and Juice Robinson defeated Action Andretti and Darius Martin.
