Update On WWE’s Plans For Austin Theory US Title Match

WWE will hold the United States Championship Invitational finals on next week’s episode of WWE SmackDown when Rey Mysterio vs. Santos Escobar. The winner will then challenge Austin Theory for the title at a later date. 

On this week’s SmackDown, Mysterio won a four-way match to advance by beating LA Knight, Sheamus, and Cameron Grimes. 

There has been speculation whether WWE would hold the show on an episode of SmackDown or book it at SummerSlam. 

Dave Meltzer reported in Friday’s Daily Update on F4Wonline.com that the title match is currently slated for a future episode of SmackDown.
