WWE has lately been firing on all cylinders, and last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown from Madison Square Garden, considered WWE’s spiritual home, smashed several records on all fronts, both in terms of the live gate as well as TV ratings.
The taping was WWE’s highest grossing event at MSG of all time, as well as the highest-grossing domestic taping of WWE SmackDown of all time.
Meanwhile, the show averaged 2,561,000 viewers with a 0.76 rating in the key 18-49 demo. This was the highest key demo rating since December 2020 and the third-highest total viewership in nearly three years.
Notably, the second quarter of the show, which featured the continuation of the ‘Tribal Court: The Trial of the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns’ segment, pulled in over three million viewers, the highest-rated quarter hour of wrestling in several years.
Furthermore, Dave Meltzer noted on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that there was concern in WWE over the length of the segment. While some thought the length of the segment would drive away viewers, others believed the contrary.
