Konnan: Today’s Wrestlers Are “Nerds” – Can’t Compare To Randy Savage

Konnan has hit out at the current crop of professional wrestlers, calling them “nerds” who can’t compare to the likes of ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage.

During a recent episode of his “K100” podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer came up and Konnan was asked if anyone competing today can compare to the Macho Man. He said,

“Bro there’s no guys like ‘Macho Man,’ not even close in today’s wrestling. The characters that we had before, the legit tough guys. Today, it’s mostly nerds.”

Konnan gave an example of Savage’s famous paranoia being on display when the Macho Man was dating Stephanie Bellars (Gorgeous George.) He said,

“When he would leave the house, he’d have cameras that she didn’t even know about, like spying on her to make sure nobody went there.”

Konnan also recalled a time when a song by Madonna caused Savage to lose it. He said,

“I remember one time, we were in a car me and DDP, and there was a song on by Madonna … And, in the middle of the song, there was a guy that was rapping that sounded just like Macho. We were like, ‘Bro, they’re copying you … They didn’t even get your permission …’ and he would just f***ing freak out.”

The former WWF and WCW World Champion passed away in May 2011 and was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015.
