Ridge Holland Discusses Parodying ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin’ Scene For WrestleMania Skit

In a recent interview with Fightful, Ridge Holland of The Brawling Brutes shared his firsthand experience of recreating the famous chest waxing scene from the comedy film ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin.’ Expressing his admiration for actors Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, Holland said,

“Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I saw it years ago. Huge fan of Steve Carell and what he does, and Paul Rudd. Huge fan.”

When discussing the shoot, Holland revealed that his call time was five hours earlier than the other participants to allow for the application of hair to his chest. However, much to his dismay, the process was completed in just 45 minutes. Consequently, he found himself in the catering area, dressed only in dad jeans and with a hairy chest resembling a woolly mammoth. He said,

“That was the main thing, really. My call time was 7:30 am and the rest of the boys in the shoot were like 12:30. So I was told this hair would take upwards of three or four hours to put on. I got there; it took forty-five minutes to put the hair on. Bear in mind there’s other things being shot, so I’m stood in the canteen or the catering area, no shirt on, horrible Steve Carell-dad jeans and this wooly mammoth-esque chest. People are walking through the thing. I’m sat down. Obviously, I’m not that inconspicuous as it is and they’re looking at me like, ‘Who’s this hairy guy with terrible jeans on sat down in catering?”

Holland also revealed that all the lines delivered by himself, Sheamus, and Drew McIntyre in the skit were completely improvised. Of course, Butch did not say anything throughout the scene. He said,

“What people won’t know is that shoot when we got to the nitty gritty in shooting that, everything was adlibbed. Everything that came out of my mouth was just off the cuff. The same for Sheamus and Drew. It was just good fun. It was nice to be able to go out there and not have any parameters and just let loose, really. It was one of the highlights of the year, to be honest. Good fun.”
