NJPW Issues Statement Regarding Mercedes Moné’s Injury

New Japan Pro Wrestling has confirmed reports that Mercedes Moné suffered an injury during her match at NJPW Resurgence.

Moné suffered what is believed to be a broken ankle during the finals of the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship match with Willow Nightingale.

In a statement on their website, NJPW didn’t comment on the reports of a broken ankle but confirmed that an injury did happen.

“During her match with Willow Nightingale in the main event of Resurgence May 21,  Mercedes Moné sustained an injury to her right ankle.

“Moné underwent a thorough appraisal of her injury immediately after her match and began treatment.

“New Japan Pro-Wrestling joins fans in wishing Moné a full and fast recovery.”
