Stevie Ray Explains Why He Didn’t Want To Read His WWE Hall Of Fame Induction Speech

Harlem Heat (Stevie Ray & Booker T) achieved their greatest success in World Championship Wrestling, where they won the WCW World Tag Team Championship a record ten times.

Four years ago, Harlem Heat was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame Class Of 2019.

During a recent interview with Wrestling Then and Now, Stevie Ray explained why he wasn’t in favor of reading a scripted speech for his Hall Of Fame induction ceremony. Ray said,

“I was having a very bad day that day. … I said, ‘I don’t read speeches. Speeches are in my head. I wrote it myself.’ Everything was in my head. I didn’t want to sound like I’m reading. I never liked speeches where people sound like they’re reading, or it’s written down word-for-word to make a point.”
