In a recent appearance on the Conversations with Conrad podcast, famed music composer Jim Johnston criticized the modern wrestling themes for failing to create an emotional connection with the audience.

For 32 years, Johnston had been composing music for WWE until his release in 2017. He said,

Music, for me, is all about making people feel something. That’s its purpose. There’s so much music out there that is so much better produced than anything I can do… and it doesn’t make you feel anything. It doesn’t make you feel anything, it doesn’t have anything to do with the character anymore, which I think is an incredible missed opportunity … It’s certainly homogenous and very generic … It feels like it’s thought out like, ‘this guy is hard-hitting, so hard-hitting drums!’ and it doesn’t make you feel anything.”

In other news, Saturday, April 8 marked the five-year anniversary of the late Brodie Lee (formerly Luke Harper) winning the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship with Erick Redbeard (formerly Erick Rowan) at WrestleMania 34.

In a post on Twitter, Amanda Huber marked the anniversary and shared her thoughts about the moment. She tweeted,

5 years ago. I’ll never forget this moment. I didn’t know he was going to win. He was “just happy to be a part of this match”. He got to work his 2 favorite teams with his brother @ErickRedBeard. He won & searched the crowd for us. This was the moment he spotted us.

Huber passed away at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 26, 2020, 10 days after his 41st birthday. It was later revealed that Huber had died from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a rare condition that causes lung tissue to become irreversibly thickened until the lungs can no longer function.
