The acquisition of WWE by the Endeavor Group will see the wrestling establishment be merged with the UFC to form a single publicly traded company valued at $21 billion.

Fightful Select is reporting that WWE has not been actively hiring talent for the past several months after a dozen signings were made with Triple H in control of the creative.

Following Vince McMahon’s return in January, there have been no publicly announced main roster signings. Some sources have described it as a “hiring freeze.” The hiring slowdown can be attributed to McMahon’s return and WWE’s sale to Endeavor.

WWE had been interested in several talents prior to McMahon’s return, including Tama Tonga, Brian Cage, Jay White, and the Authors of Pain. The AOP were in talks last year before McMahon returned to WWE. Cage had several individuals backstage pushing for him. Triple H was also personally interested in Nick Aldis. However, McMahon’s return to the company caused all potential hires to be “put on hold.”

As for Jay White, who has signed with AEW, WWE sources mentioned a communication error on their part that caused him to sign with Tony Khan’s company.

Several talents have mentioned that they were approached by WWE earlier this year, although again, none have been hired. The talents were told that locking them down to contracts was difficult due to the impending sale. Some talents that were signed in 2022 have yet to be used on television while others have not been contacted since WWE expressed interest in them. The departure of James Kimball was the reason for some of them, but not all, as the decision would have been taken by his higher-ups.
