CM Punk was closing in on a return to AEW despite the All Out brawl with The Elite before his recent Instagram rant about Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW President Tony Khan wanted to bring him back. The two sides were working towards that happening, with it being agreed to in principle and then Punk made the post.
“This came while sides were working on a reconciliation that was at least in principle agreed to, per the decision of Khan who wanted him back. That would also seem to be behind the story that broke of an attempt to book the United Center for All Out this year, rather than the NOW Arena. Where things stand at this moment are unknown. There are tons of complicated issues involved and differences of opinions on the subject.”
As previously noted, CM Punk recently trained with Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler in LA.
