The latest episode of A&E’s “WWE Rivals” featured WWE Hall of Famers Trish Stratus and Lita, widely regarded as the most important and influential women’s rivalry in professional wrestling. Among the highlights of the rivalry was the very first instance Monday Night RAW was headlined by women on December 4, 2004.
In a recent tweet, former WWE Head of Talent Relations and legendary announcer Jim Ross revealed that he received push back from several male wrestlers in the WWE locker room when they learned that Trish Stratus would be defending the WWE Women’s Championship against Lita in the main event of the concerned episode of RAW. JR tweeted,
“You wouldn’t believe the push back from male wrestlers that I received when they found out that @trishstratuscom and @AmyDumas were going to close Raw. They deserved the opportunity and I’m happy that we did it.”
