Andy Kaufman To Be Inducted Into The WWE Hall Of Popularity

Range reported today that WWE will be inducting Andy Kaufman into this year’s Hall of Fame class. It’s uncertain who will induct him into the honorary class.

Kaufman was a comic in the 70s and 80s, most significantly understood for his part in the “Taxi” series from 1978 up until 1983.

Wrestling fans understand him for his fight with Jerry “The King” Lawler in Memphis. He would in some cases battle females who he selected of the crowd, triggering him to get heat. He took a piledriver from Lawler, causing them doinga section on David Letterman’s NBC Late Night reveal where Lawler slapped Kaufman.

It was covered in the “Man on the Moon” motion picture with Jim Carrey representing the function of Kaufman.

Rey Mysterio, The Great Muta, and Kaufman comprise the present class.
