It’s fantastic to hear these stories. Lanny was informing me, his bro [Randy Savage], you would not believe that method at all now; [Randy] was getting the in-ring part however he was having problem with his character. He saw a couple men, like all of us do, we take things that works and twist it and make it our own, and I constantly liked hearing those viewpoints.”
On the Poffos’ famous thriftiness:“What I was truly interested by was when I remained in my World Class days and among the people stated I was the most prudent wrestler they ‘d ever seen. And After That Frank Dusek goes, bro, do not me incorrect Jack, you are low-cost– however you are not even in the Poffos’ league. Therefore it was the Poffos and the Rip Rogers who I searched for as the terrific cash savers.”
On the Poffos’ approach in Angelo Poffo’s area:“I believe when I initially discussed it to Lanny, he believed I was taking a knock at him, when I was actually applauding him. Since that was the classification that I wished to remain in, you understand? Angelo [Poffo] had that area in Tennessee, Kentucky, parts of Arkansas. They didn’t have the television behind like Lawler’s business did. They needed to conserve cash; they needed to work more difficult. The famous things that I became aware of Lanny and Randy performing in these little locations were things that I actually gotten in touch with. I wished to be that kind of man.”
On wanting he might return and see young Lanny:“We get to see a various kind of Lanny Poffo in WWE, then in WCW, and it was satisfying, however I want I might return and see the Lanny who was cutting his teeth in Angelo’s promo.”
