Jay White lost to Hikuleo in a Loser Leaves Japan match at the NJPW ‘The New Beginning’ event in Osaka. The match, which took place this weekend, has stirred new debate in regard to White’s immediate future in the business – with many speculating that the former IWGP Champion will be either WWE or AEW bound.
Fightful is reporting that Jay White‘s contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) is expected to expire soon. Sources within NJPW believe that White may not be re-signing with the company despite the fact that the Japanese promotion would “love to keep him.”
NJPW talents believe that White’s contract is going to expire sometime after NJPW Battle in the Valley, but definitely before WrestleMania 39.
Both WWE and AEW are reportedly interested in signing White. The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion previously confirmed that WWE had reached out to him with a potential deal. Any word on White potentially signing with WWE is being kept a well-guarded secret.
White has achieved many accolades during his time in NJPW, including becoming the IWGP Heavyweight Champion, World Heavyweight Champion, Never Openweight Champion, IC Champion, and IWGP United States Champion.
White is currently scheduled to wrestle Eddie Kingston at NJPW Battle in the Valley on Saturday, February 18 at the San Jose Civic Center in San Jose, California.
At this time, it is unclear which promotion White will end up signing with, but whatever promotion he chooses, fans can expect to see him continue to be a major player in the wrestling world.
