MVP signed a 1 year agreement with New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2011 following his WWE exit the previous year. In May 2011, MVP beat Toru Yano in an inaugural champion competition finals match to be crowned NJPW’s first-ever IWGP Intercontinental Champion. On February 26, 2013, Mr. 305 revealed his departure from the Japanese promo.

On his experience in NJPW: “I had such a fun time because business. The locker space had fantastic energy and excellent vibes. Everybody was so great to me.
