It looks like Michelle McCool is going to be watching this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble match from the crowd.
The 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match saw Michelle McCool make her first in-ring appearance in four years, with some fans hoping that it would not be the last time they saw her in a WWE ring. Responding to a fan that suggested it was about time a women’s wrestling legend won the Royal Rumble in 2023, McCool said she won’t be in the match but you still might spot her on television.

“Sadly wasn’t asked this year,” Michelle McCool wrote. “It is near my home so will prob still be there….just wandering aimlessly in the audience [sideways laugh emoji]”
Asked if she was just trying to lead people on, McCool replied “real talk!”
Not only was the ’22 Rumble the first in-ring appearance for McCool since 2018, but it’s just the third time she’s competed for WWE since retiring from full-time competition. The other appearances were at the 2018 Royal Rumble in Philadelphia and in a women’s battle royal at WWE Evolution that same year. McCool’s last non-battle royal/singles match was a “Loser Leaves WWE” match against Layla at WWE Extreme Rules 2011.
The 2023 WWE Royal Rumble will take place on Saturday, January 28 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. As of this writing, only four WWE Superstars have been confirmed for the women’s elimination match:
- Liv Morgan
- Candice LeRae
- Rhea Ripley
- Raquel Rodriguez
