Ruby recently spoke with The Wrestling Perspective Podcast about how she believes women’s wrestling can be improved in several areas. She described how she believes that women’s wrestlers often sexualize themselves because they think it will help them get booked, and she shared her hope that, going forward, women will remain true to themselves.

“As far as changing anything, I feel like on the indies, at least as of recent, I think it just kind of depends on how the female wants to represent herself,” said Riott. “Sometimes I think the girls think they have to be a certain way, and if there was any way that I could impact that to any younger generation, I feel like it would be to just stress that it’s not necessary. If that’s what she wants to be, then yeah, do your thing. But for me, I hope that a lot of the women can see it and know that it’s not necessary.

“You don’t have to sexualize yourself, it doesn’t have to be that way in order to get booked, and that’s one thing that I’ve never changed really about myself. One, because it’s uncomfortable if I tried, like I’m not organically like sexy, it’s weird and awkward. I’m just an awkward human and it just wouldn’t come across as organic in anyway whatsoever.”
