As a former King of the Ring, Booker T is certainly qualified to share his thoughts on the rumblings that WWE’s first-ever Queen of the Ring is reportedly set to begin this fall. Anther report states that the finals of the tournament will be held in Saudi Arabia; this outcome would surely would certainly be a historic match, and on the latest episode of The Hall Of Fame podcast, Booker T explained how this development would be a strong indicator of how far the wrestling world has come.
“It just tells you how far we’ve come, to have a Queen of the Ring in Saudi Arabia, after it was forever just to get two women in the ring to ring to work [there],” said Booker T. “To work in that part of the world, from that capacity, women in the ring, fighting, it was a no-no. It was something that those people had never seen before in their lives. And now to have a Queen of the Ring tournament, it’s huge.
“And where it’s gonna be huge is you’ve got so many women on the roster in Saudi in the ring at one time. It’s gonna be nuts.”
Booker T focused on the signifiance the tournament, particularly the finals in Saudi Arabia, would have outside the ring. He expressed his belief that it could be an uplifting beacon of hope and possibility for Saudi Arabian women.
“It’s gonna give women over there that thought in that mind that they can do anything, it’s possible,” said Booker T. “And I think that right there, that beats all as far as I’m concerned.
“There’s some good to come out of this for the women of Saudi Arabia. And I could say for them to be able to see someone like them doing something that they never thought that they would be able to do or perhaps even see, it’s definitely gotta give them hope. And that right there I think is what people are looking for, more than anything, is hope.”
