Samoa Joe has been released by WWE
WWE released multiple Superstars on Thursday, announcing the roster moves with the following statement on the company’s website.
WWE has come to terms on the release of Samoa Joe, Billie Kay, Mickie James, Chelsea Green, Tucker, Kalisto, Bo Dallas and Wesley Blake as of today April 15, 2021.
We wish them the best in all of their future endeavors.
Samoa Joe made his WWE debut on May 20, 2015 when he appeared on the NXT roster. He is a two-time NXT Champion and a two-time WWE United States Champion, also winning the 2015 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic with Finn Bálor.
Joe’s last match with WWE was on the February 10, 2020 episode of WWE RAW, an eight-man tag team loss that saw AOP (Akam & Rezar), Murphy & Seth Rollins defeat Kevin Owens, Joe & The Viking Raiders. Joe has been sidelined since then due to injuries and has been seen on RAW commentary since last year.
On Monday, WWE announced the hiring of new RAW lead commentator Adnan Virk; former RAW commentator Tom Phillips became the new host of 205 Live and Joe was mentioned in the press release claiming he was still “part of the WWE talent roster.”
