Matt Sydal, who competed in WWE as Evan Bourne, recently appeared in All Elite Wrestling at the company’s All Out pay-per-view and is set to compete in Ring of Honor’s Pure Championship. However, his run outside WWE almost came to an end in 2016 after he was offered a spot in the WWE Cruiserweight Classic.

“When the cruiserweight tournament was originally happening, I talked to them about [a return],” Sydal told Wrestle Talk. “But at the time I was also talking to New Japan, and I just chose New Japan over WWE. It was kind of an easy choice for me at the time.”

Sydal has wrestled for all of the top promotions outside the company since being released from WWE in 2014. WrestleZone has an interview with the ROH wrestler going up next week.
