AEW World Champion Jon Moxley successfully defended his world championship against MJF last night at All Out and he spoke to the media afterwards where he was asked how wrestling MJF compared to that of Brodie Lee and Brian Cage.
Moxley said, “That is one of the fun things about wrestling is the different styles. I think I can adapt to anybodies style. Big guys or small guys. I get a lot of people that think of me as one way but I was trained in the Les Thatcher system. 60’s style pro wrestling and I love that classic style. It’s fun to blend your style with someone else and see what kind of wacky cocktail you can come up with. We had a nice however many weeks buildup.”
Later in the interview, he was asked how he enjoyed working with MJF to which Moxley said, “He has a long way to go. Cheaters never win. You don’t win championships by taking shortcuts. He was out wrestling me and sticking to his game-plan. If he would have stuck to his game-plan he might have walked out as champion. He tried to take a shortcut. It’s like what your parents say, measure twice and cut once. Always break down your cardboard. Stuff like that. He will be on top of this company long after I am gone.”
Jon Moxley also confirmed that Renee Young was at the show tonight and would possibly be interested in making appearances for AEW after her long no-compete clause comes to an end. Moxley stressed that the duration of this non-compete clause was much longer than usual.
