Dakota Kai appeared on this week’s episode of WWE’s The Bump. During an interview, Kai discussed her upcoming NXT Women’s Championship Match with Io Shirai. Here are some highlights:

On preparing for her title match with Io Shirai:

Kai: ” I have been mentally preparing for this match. Ever since I joined NXT, I was constantly overlooked and treated like some sort of underdog that was meant to rise up. I’m done with that, I’m done jumping through hoops, I’m done doing all of that. I have been preparing for this match my whole time here in NXT. I think a lot of people saw a different side to me at WarGames last year, and I am just gonna roll on with that and show everyone why I deserve to be the new NXT Women’s Champion.”

“Here’s the thing with Io. She’s an amazing in-ring competitor but she doesn’t scare me, you know what I mean? Like she has been put on this pedestal. What people don’t realize is she put herself there, and I’m gonna take her down a notch. When she sees me at TakeOver XXX, she’s gonna be faxing someone she has never faced before.”

On her matches with Rhea Ripley:

Kai: “Rhea and I have a lot of history together, and this goes back to before either of us were in the WWE. I think that she’s a great competitor, she’s strong, she’s fierce in the ring, but yeah we both meet when the stakes are high, and we both bring out the best in each other. And who knows what happens going forward, but last time we met in the ring, I won. It doesn’t matter how, I won, so we’ll see what happens. But yeah, she’s a great competitor, but I won so what does that say about me?”
