Cody Rhodes once again put his AEW TNT Championship on the line in an open challenge tonight as he took on former tag champion Scorpio Sky. It also marked the first All Elite Wrestling refereeing gig for former WWE referee Mike Chioda, who was let go as part of the cuts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The legendary referee Mike Chioda will be calling the action!

Sky hasn’t had such a high profile solos match since he lost to Chris Jericho and showed that he shouldn’t be underestimated during the match. Sky targeted Cody’s ribs, which were damaged last week by the Dark Order. However, Sky hurt his back during the match, so neither man were 100% by the midway point. Rhodes would hit his signature Cross Rhodes maneuver but Sky was able to kick out much to the surprise of coach Arn Anderson. However, a second Cross Rhodes did the trick and Cody retained.

After the match, Brodie Lee challenged Rhodes to a match next Saturday (AEW isn’t airing on Wednesday next week) and had the old TNT Championship in his hands.
