Sitting down with Inside The Ropes, current WWE Champion Drew McIntyre was asked who he’d like to face if he gets past Bobby Lashley at Backlash. Drew said that when he defeats The AllMighty, he has an Apex Predator in his sights.
I think Orton is the one that has to happen. You know right now we’re in the position where we’re building a lot of people, including myself, and myself and Lashley together I think we’ll be able to help each other with MVP bring each other up, establishing each other as I’m on the rise establishing myself as Champion and what my legacy is going to be but someone like an Orton is someone who can make me work up, really learn from, he’s obviously an established name, people tune in saying hey there’s Randy Orton. If they’ve never seen me before or remember me from the past they’re gonna go ‘ooh who’s this guy?’ and he’s gonna help tell that story and really establish me as a top, top player. I think basically Randy Orton is my Joker.
Drew continues that Orton’s laidback approach to wrestling contrasts heavily with how hard he’s had to work to get to the top, and he feels that those two dynamics would clash in spectacular fashion. Of course, Orton has his own troubles this Sunday, heading into what “some are saying is the “Greatest Match Of All Time”” against Edge.
If the Rated R Superstar leaves enough of Orton to challenge for the title, a match against Drew could be right up there on the all-time rankings. Or at least, that’s what people are saying. To hear ti for yourself, you can see the full interview clip in the video embedded below:
