The APA, fondly remembered for their hard-drinking, cigar-smoking antics during WWE’s Attitude Era, has sparked a discussion about their potential success in modern-day television. Would their tag team still be a hit in today’s environment?

During a recent episode of the “Something to Wrestle” podcast, JBL, one-half of the APA duo, expressed his firm belief that he and his partner, Ron Simmons, could still make a mark in today’s TV scene. He said,

“Of course [it would work], it’s challenging for me to be impartial about it, considering it’s me and Ron. I am of the opinion that [we would fare] incredibly well. Especially if we’re talking about the APA, and not necessarily the Acolytes. We, the guys who just come down and try to knock people out, I believe we would be very popular because we did so much cool stuff backstage.”

He further stated, “Some of these stars, these guys are significantly entertaining individuals. You take a glance at their social media and their activities, we could have a blast with the whole roster.”

Reflecting on his time with the APA, JBL recalled how much fun he and Simmons had, with bar brawls and bar drinking being some of his personal highlights. He also mentioned that if the APA were to debut in today’s wrestling climate, they would have embraced social media and utilized it to amplify their popularity.

The discussion resonates with their previous reputation as a tag team that effortlessly pushed boundaries and regularly brought high levels of entertainment and spontaneity to the ring. [Embedded content]
