The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) organization and its principal, Vince McMahon, are actively making strides to move the Janel Grant lawsuit into arbitration, thus forestalling any court proceedings.

On December 23, Jessica T. Rosenburg, an attorney representing McMahon, officially sought arbitration by making a court filing. The filed document submits the following:

“Defendant Vincent K. McMahon, through his respective attorneys, respectfully directs this Court to mandate arbitration of this case as dictated in the Federal Arbitration Act, 9 U.S.C. §§ 3, 4, for the reasons explicated in the attached legal memorandum and Declaration of Vincent K. McMahon. Furthermore, Defendant McMahon urges the Court to also consider providing any additional or extended relief that the Court might consider just and fitting.”

McMahon asserts that he and Grant were mutually engaged in a romantic relationship over a number of years, and during this time, a settlement payout of million was mutually agreed upon when the time came for Grant to depart from WWE.

McMahon argues that Grant has violated this agreed settlement by bringing forth a public lawsuit, prompting him to disburse only million of the agreed sum. He also maintains that their initial agreement remains in effect and, according to the contractual stipulations, only an arbitrator should be tasked with resolving the dispute.

A congruent filing has been made by WWE against Janel Grant, who has brought forward allegations of sexual abuse and trafficking during her tenure with the organization. This lawsuit led to McMahon stepping down from his duties within WWE, which also named John Laurinaitis in the suit. The legal team of Grant has not yet put forth a response to these recent moves.
