In a recent episode of his popular podcast “The Snake Pit”, WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts spoke about the fan reactions to Kevin Sullivan’s debut persona as a devil worshiper.
On his podcast, Jake Roberts revealed the intriguing information about Sullivan’s controversial gimmick. The points that Roberts mentioned during the podcast are provided below:
When it came to the topic of fans’ reception of Sullivan’s devil-worshiping character, Roberts stated, “The fans received Kevin positively, as he was deeply immersed in his devil persona. This caused a volatile response, to the extent we even had actual devil worshipers showing up at the Tampa shows, seated right at ringside. They were all cloaked in black, wearing hoods. It was extremely intense.”
Discussing Kevin’s dedication to his unusual gimmick, he noted, “Kevin was committed to his devilish character, he truly lived that gimmick fully.”
Moving over to his experiences of working a main event with the legendary Dusty Rhodes in CWF, Roberts confided, “It was a defining moment for my career. To be in the ring with one of the all-time greats filled me with tremendous excitement and nautilus anxiety. I was extremely anxious, nervous if I’d mess up anything, but these feelings are part of the process. To then deliver a performance and receive approval from Dusty, was indeed an incredible experience.”
