The speculated wrestling match between Shawn Michaels and AJ Styles, potential to be a thrilling display of skill, didn’t transpire, as the WWE Hall of Famer opted to sidestep the bout.
After retiring from active wrestling in 2010, Michaels made a brief return to the WWE ring during a show held in Saudi Arabia in 2018.
In a recent interaction with “Inside The Ropes,” Michaels revealed confirmation of the rumours circulating about a potential match with Styles. He shared,
“The only propositions from the organisation were Taker and AJ Styles. Those were the sole instances where the idea was formally presented to me, but I rejected.”
Amidst speculation of a face-off with his trainee Shawn Michaels, Michaels clarified that such a proposal had never been made. He added,
“The thought of a match with Daniel Bryan or anyone else was never given any serious thought over the years of my retirement. From an organisational perspective, it’s been understood that I had retired.”
