Women’s wrestling could see a new development if Willow Nightingale’s ideas come to fruition. She is enthusiastic about the concept of a women’s variant of the AEW Continental Classic.
Nightingale’s thoughts on this topic were shared during her guest appearance on the “AEW Meal and a Match” show. Some key takeaways from the podcast are highlighted below:
Look at some of the standout comments from the podcast below:
Nightingale’s take on a women’s AEW Continental Classic: “In my opinion, it’s an exciting idea. When I observed it last year and given how much I reveled in the experience, my immediate thought was, ‘We need to make this happen.’ It would be amazing. I believe even if we organize our own unique format, a sort of distinctive tournament.”
The distinguishing factor between this and the Owen Hart Cup: “The format of the tournaments differ. An Owen style tournament is characterized by single elimination, whereas the Continental Classic follows a round-robin format. In a round-robin, you have the opportunity to wrestle each participant in the tournament. This could be an interesting aspect. It would be very strategic as you can plan your approach for each match as opposed to a single-elimination tournament.”
Willow Nightingale and Orange Cassidy discuss this and more during the third episode of AEW Meal and a Match.
