Jim Smallman, a central figure in WWE’s NXT creative team, recently revealed that he has concluded his tenure with them. The announcement came on Thursday, which marked his conclusory day with the organization.

Smallman had been serving in the capacity of Senior Writer and Producer but elected to step down so that he could relocate back to the UK and be with his family. He disseminated the news of this significant professional shift through social media channels.

The name Jim Smallman is synonymous with PROGRESS Wrestling, a brand he co-founded, and it also has an association with NXT UK due to his past involvement.

Making known his decision, he took to Instagram and wrote, “Yesterday was my last day as part of the NXT creative team, as I resigned from my position as Senior Writer / Producer in order to move back to the UK and be a better dad to my two children. This was an exceedingly tough call to make given that I had the privilege of working with some of the most talented and excellent individuals globally, and consequently, yesterday was an emotional standstill as I bid adieu – if only temporarily – to numerous amazing friends.”

He added, realizing the impracticality of being a good dad stationed 4000 miles apart and recent personal health concerns heightened this realization. He said, “It’s time to return home and make up for the time I’ve been absent.

He thanked his colleagues and expressed his gratitude to Shawn and Hunter for providing him with the opportunity, to Johnny and the writing team for their unparalleled support, Mr. Regal for introducing him to new opportunities and Joe for guiding him. He also acknowledged his indebtedness to the uniquely gifted talent he had the privilege of working with across Europe and the USA.

Lastly, he stated, “This may be a goodbye to the NXT creative team, but definitely not to WWE. I am hopeful that our paths will cross again sometime in the future.”
