What Title Should Replace The TNA X Division Championship? | Question Of The Day

We have another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day for you today!

According to some rumours, the X Division Championship might soon be a memory and TNA Wrestling plans to introduce a fresh title at Genesis 2025. No specific details about this speculated new championship have been disclosed yet. The uncertainty leaves us in the dark and sparks many questions like the title name, its regulations, design, and other aspects.

The question of the day is, “If the torch was in your hands, what would you substitute the X Division Championship with, or would you like it to remain as the current title?”

We look forward to your thoughts in the comments below.

In my opinion…

Frankly, TNA’s title history has seen some pretty flat ones. The entire history of the Legends Championship transitioning into the Global Championship, which further evolved into the Television Championship, and ended as the King of the Mountain Championship was unnecessary since the initiation of the Legends Championship was itself a not-so-great idea.

I am fond of the Grand Championship title, but I wouldn’t want them to retain those rules. If they maintain that name and introduce it as a standard mid-card title, that would be my preferred choice.

Honestly, there is not much necessity for the X Division Championship to retire. Instead, if it reprises its role as a strict cruiserweight belt, it could cultivate more competition amongst wrestlers like Kushida. It doesn’t have to become yet another weight-limited category; it needs no limits.

If they’re contemplating a radically fresh concept, they should avoid any region-based names. I wouldn’t be thrilled if the new title is named the TNA Intercontinental Championship or the International/National/North American/United States championships. Naming one championship the Global title and another the World title seems redundant, which is a trend I am not fond of in WWE and AEW.

I would also advise doing away with the Digital Media Championship. I view it as a replica of the Television Championship, which doesn’t seem appealing since all belts are televised.

Given the suspicion around this change, if it turns out to be real, I would prefer a fresh title with a neutral name and devoid of any unnecessary rules. It should be distinguishable as a mid-card belt to avoid conflict with the World Heavyweight Championship.
