Jesse Ventura, returning as a commentator after a long hiatus, raised a few eyebrows at the WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. This sentiment was echoed by Vince Russo, who admitted to finding Ventura’s role initially “a bit strange.”

Ventura made a comeback to the WWE commentary table after many years during a recent event in Uniondale, New York.

Russo, a guest on his podcast “The Brand,” shared his thoughts about Ventura’s return and the approach he took. Russo expressed, “It seemed a bit peculiar at first. We introduced Jesse right at the beginning, which was definitely a great move. However, once Jesse started to speak, it was clear that his words were pre-planned. You could easily tell that he had been scripted.”

Russo further commented, “At the beginning of the first segment, Jesse showed a bit of nervousness. But as the show progressed, he was back to his usual self. Though, it was clear he was a bit on edge and seemed to be following a script in the early stages.”

In future events, Ventura will continue to be a part of all WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event shows – four of them are scheduled to occur annually.

Ventura’s return to WWE was greatly influenced by his son, who played a pivotal role in bridging the relationship between the former Minnesota Governor and WWE. More information on this can be found here. A review of the WWE Saturday Night’s main event can be watched below.
