JBL Hoping For 17th World Title Reign For John Cena In WWE Farewell Tor

JBL, enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame, has expressed his desire for wrestling superstar John Cena to secure his 17th World Championship crown before he completes his wrestling career in 2025.

During WWE’s Money in the Bank event in 2024, Cena mentioned that he would be hanging up his wrestling boots the following year, with a retirement journey characterized by various bouts planned.

In a recent episode of the “Something To Wrestle” podcast, JBL shared his thoughts about Cena’s looming retirement and his expectancies. He declared,

“I’m hugely fond of Cena. I genuinely hope he manages to secure that seventeenth championship. Witnessing that record collapse would be exciting, it’d be a historical moment that would be truly thrilling. I’m just disappointed that he’s stepping back from wrestling. I will thoroughly enjoy every moment, I wouldn’t wish to dampen the mood, but it’s just disheartening to know talents like him wouldn’t be around forever.

“He will always be a part of us, he just won’t be assuming an active role. Although, I believe he might always engage in certain endeavours down the line, but in terms of regular in-ring competition, he’s retiring. It’s a somewhat bittersweet moment; he’s had an astounding career.”

Cena’s stellar achievements include winning the WWE World Championship 16 times, with his inaugural victory dating back to April 2005 at WrestleMania 21, where he stripped JBL of the title.

Typifying his iconic status, Cena has been announced to feature in the premiere of RAW on Netflix on the 6th of January, he will also be present at the Royal Rumble in February and, is already billed for the Elimination Chamber event in March.
