Welcome all to another edition of eWrestlingNews Query of the Day!
We are familiar now with the female contenders vying for the inaugural WWE women’s intercontinental title. We also have the tournament bracket and the first Superstar Dakota Kai who has advanced to the second round after defeating Shayna Baszler and Katana Chance at last night’s Monday Night Raw event.
The question I have for you today is – “What is your prediction for the rest of the bracket leading up to the finals and the crowning of the first-ever women’s IC champion?”
Do remember to reply with your thoughts in the comments section.
Regarding my prediction…
I’ll share both my personal favourite and my forecast for WWE’s decision, since they don’t match.
bestowed with a position in WWE Creative today and with Dakota Kai already advancing, I would predict Raquel Rodriguez overcoming Zoey Stark and Kayden Carter on the left side of the bracket. This would pit her against her ex-teammate in the semis, where she would emerge victorious.
For the right side of the bracket, I’d focus on selecting a contender for Rodriguez in the finals and plan reversely. It has to be a babyface, eliminating Ivy Nile and Alba Fyre. Kairi Sane or Natalya beating Raquel seems unlikely, though Natalya may gain some advantages: she has a legacy and could accomplish this feat, and it wouldn’t be awkward for her, unlike a faction leader, to hold a title. I adore Kairi and expect her to win at least these midcard titles soon, but not yet. Zelina Vega, whom I also admire and find underrated, wouldn’t receive much fan support in speculation of her defeating Raquel. Lyra Valkyria seems to be the safest bet to maintain suspense.
That said, I predict Raquel defeating Dakota in the semis, but my alternate scenario would be Natalya in the finals against Raquel, marked by Rhea Ripley’s interference, costing Rodriguez the match and leading to Natalya clinching the title.
While Rodriguez would always be a strong contender, why is Isla Dawn missed in this lineup? An odd decision indeed.
In my books, Natalie should get the title, pass it on to Sonya Deville in due course, and eventually, along with the Women’s United States Championship, circulate it frequently in 2025. In the grand plan of things, most Superstars would prefer a 30-day title reign than dragging it over months allowing only two to three people to hold the coveted title…but that’s just me. This particular title is one I’d play hot potato with.
To sum up, I’d prefer Natalya getting the title for her relentless contributions and marking her name as the inaugural champion, but I believe WWE will award this to either Lyra Valkyria or likely Raquel Rodriguez. The only way I see Rodriguez missing out is if WWE has plans to separate her from Liv Morgan, but let’s hope for Rhea Ripley to claim the Women’s World Championship soon instead of this direction.
