Big E recently composed a piece for The Players Tribune in which he reflects on his personal journey through the world of wrestling, discussing his experiences and contemplating his future in the sport.

Even though he has not faced another contender in the ring since his neck injury in 2022, Big E persists in making regular appearances during WWE’s pre and post-shows for its special event broadcasts.

Regarding the accomplishment of The New Day, Big E expresses, “Initially, I chose to write this piece as a commemoration of The New Day’s 10-year anniversary. I aimed to articulate how deeply significant this experience has been to me. In truth, however, the imprint The New Day has left on me is beyond verbal explanation. Indeed, where this last DECADE has taken us?? It encompasses my wildest imaginations.”

Discussing the genesis idea for the group Big E shares, “Actually, Woods’ original proposition for The New Day aimed to revamp the Nation of Domination, which was a stepping stone for The Rock. A group of Black militants was the characterizing trait of The Nation. Although packed with memorable moments and legendary characters, Woods, Kofi, and I do not fit into the militant frame. It does however reflect our journey as young Black wrestlers aiming for recognition.”

Speaking about how The New Day has changed over time, he adds, “Looking at the course of our evolution, we can compare ourselves to the variety and potential of literature. Once you realize that literature can take on multiple forms, it opens the world to you. The same can be said for every form of expression – music, films, anime, gaming, tv – and even our culture and our racial identity. It posits that there are no boundaries, and everything is subjected to endless potential.”

On contemplating his future in this industry, he admits, ” Despite the irony of not being able to picture my future after suffering a career-altering injury, I now have a clearer vision. With opportunities opening up in diverse arenas like hosting, acting, voice work, filmmaking, and many more, I now see the infinite multitude of myself waiting to unfold.”
