In Matt Hardy’s latest remarks on Ricky Starks, which he passed on almost nine months since Starks’ last All Elite Wrestling match, he shared his perspectives. The surprising revelation is that Starks is not included in AEW’s recent events or on their agenda for upcoming ones, to the extent that the organisation recently barred him from participating in GCW events.
On a recent airing of his podcast, “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy”, Hardy expressed his fascination with Starks’ performances and touched on his recent hiatus. He commented,
“As far as individuals who are there under contract, if a disagreement arises or maybe someone expresses a viewpoint that contradicts your company or states that they don’t want to work there, although I am unaware of any such circumstances, I understand why Tony Khan would keep someone under contract until its conclusion if they’re being paid. That is just the reality of it.”
Hardy further expressed, “You entered into a contract. Such occurrences are commonplace in business and it’s not unfamiliar in pro wrestling. I wouldn’t say I’m overly critical of it because that’s primarily how businesses operates on a larger scale.”
There was a lot of praise bestowed on Starks by Hardy, highlighting his outstanding talent and charisma and predicting a bright future for him if given “the right opportunity”.
As per Starks, he has hypotheses as to why he’s not participating in AEW, yet the company has not given him any definitive explanation. Reports in August indicated that AEW sensed Starks no longer wanted to be part of their organization, but Starks has refuted any suggestions that he rejected creative proposals.
