During a recent guest spot on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, reigning WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes shared his thoughts on why he consistently dresses in suits and how this annoys fellow wrestler Kevin Owens.
Some key points from their discussion have been highlighted below:
When questioned about his continual preference for suits, he responded, “Well, everyone we’ve discussed, I appreciate. However, there’s this specific individual… Alright, here’s a tale for you. Around 2015, I began wearing suits frequently. It was something I took upon myself to present wrestling and sports entertainment in a distinct light. So it was always about donning suits, always tailor-made. I didn’t think it came off as pompous. I wasn’t nagging anyone with it. I just wanted to look the part, you know?”
On the topic of Owens displaying an issue with his manhood, Rhodes mentioned, “I’ve expressed previously how certain men in wrestling seem threatened by the regular suit-wearing. Generally, I suggest that perhaps they’re struggling with their — their masculinity, if you catch my drift… I’m trying to avoid vulgar language here; after all, it’s late-night entertainment. It’s Thanksgiving.”
Discussing how his constant suit-wearing gets under Kevin Owens’ skin, he revealed, “But no one is more vexed or irked by my propensity for wearing suits than Kevin Owens. So draw your own conclusions there as to what that implies.”
During the show, Rhodes also shared his emotional victory at WrestleMania with his mother, in an extended video segment.
