Last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown saw Jade Cargill left incapacitated atop a vehicle, and she is now expected to take an extended break from the show.
The plot is currently focused around an unidentified attacker as Cargill’s assailant remains a mystery.
Our previous coverage on eWn detailed that a legitimate injury was the reason behind Cargill’s exit from the storyline, but the severity of the injury is yet to be clarified.
It’s confirmed that Cargill will be out of action for a minimum duration of three months; the likelihood is that it could be an even longer spell.
Dave Meltzer, on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, revealed that the company is maintaining confidentiality about the actual injury.
Meltzer stated, “The probability is quite high that they’ll need to be [stripped of the women’s tag team titles]. I was informed that she’ll be out for at least three months. The nature of the injury is still a secret. Even those within the company who are aware of her injury, including her close associates, do not know what exactly the injury is.”
Bryan Alvarez followed up by saying, “Around 95 different ailments were stated in the storyline diagnosis, one of which was a torn meniscus. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the real injury, as it calls for a minimum recovery period of three months. Depending on the severity, it may require longer. The reason why it’s kept a secret is what I don’t understand.”
As the countdown for Survivor Series on Saturday begins, WWE is also gearing up to crown the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion at Saturday Night’s Main Event. With Cargill slated to take part in the Women’s WarGames match and tournament, her absence has had an impact on both events.
