In a fresh episode of the “Business of the Business” podcast, Brett Lauderdale, the chief of GCW, opened up about the impact of the WWE ID program on his organization and speculated about its possible effects on independent wrestling in the days to come.
WWE’s latest ID initiative is designed to spot “prospects” within the independent circuit who have the potential to join the company’s roster in the future.
From Lauderdale’s perspective, he said, “Not changing anything yet. I don’t know of any impact yet. I think we’re all still figuring out what it is. Even people who are part of it, they’re still trying to figure out exactly what it is. It seems like a positive thing, based on the parameters, guidelines, and explanation of what it is. It seems to be helpful for wrestlers. There are not guidelines or restrictions when you work with WWE ID talent. Is that going to be the same forever? I don’t know. That’s the word right now. Until I see otherwise, I have no reason to think that’s going to change.”
Major League Wrestling (MLW), meanwhile, revealed that Hechicero is slated to participate in MLW Kings of Colosseum, planned for January 11 in Dallas, TX.
Additionally, an MLW World Heavyweight Title bout was announced for Kings Of Colosseum, featuring Satoshi Kojima defending his title against Matt Riddle.
