Welcome to another installment of eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
The line-up for the Gold League and Blue League of this year’s AEW Continental Classic has been unveiled. Over on the Gold League side, we have Darby Allin, Claudio Castagnoli, Will Ospreay, Ricochet, Brody King, and Juice Robinson. The Blue League stars include Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, Daniel Garcia, Mark Briscoe, Shelton Benjamin, and The Beast Mortos.
I considered posing a question about the biggest miss in this tournament, but decided to focus on predictions instead. So, today’s question: “Who do you think will triumph in the Gold League, Blue League, and ultimately, the AEW Continental Classic 2024 tournament?”

Now, here are my thoughts…
Kazuchika Okada, the reigning continental champ and the first advertised for the tournament, naturally emerges as an overwhelming contender to win not only the Blue League, but also the entire tournament. The other Blue League participants will surely put up a good fight, however, Okada seems primed for the top spot. An alternate contender could be Daniel Garcia, the other champ in the mix, despite his International Championship reportedly not being at stake.
As for the Gold League, I find it hard to imagine Darby Allin, Brody King, Juice Robinson, or Claudio Castagnoli claiming the title. Allin’s current narrative involvement with the Death Riders makes it less likely for him to begin a random feud with Okada. Castagnoli’s storyline and champion status also make him less likely. On the other hand, King and Robinson are rather complementary players without a significant push on the horizon.
Therefore, I foresee a face-off between Okada and either Will Ospreay or Ricochet in the finals. While another feud between Ospreay and Fletcher looms, I suspect Worlds End might throw us a curveball. Considering Tony Khan’s track record with surprise auxiliary matches, an Ospreay/Okada encounter might be in the cards, possibly delaying Ospreay/Fletcher II. However, I feel this might not be one of those surprises.
Contrarily, a Ricochet vs Okada match-up would be a spectacular event that fans would go bananas for. If AEW is looking to dethrone Okada, Ricochet could be the perfect contender. Even though Ospreay recently dropped a mid-level title, my gut tells me Okada will retain his crown.
