At 55, AEW legend Dustin Rhodes is setting his sights on a World Title reign, eyeing it as a key achievement in his extensive career. He has competed across multiple promotions, claiming several titles, but never securing the paramount championship in any wrestling organization.

In a recent dialogue with WFAA 8, Rhodes revealed his aspiration to claim this title one day. He expressed his view, asserting that, “There’s one thing that every wrestler, if they don’t want this when they get into the business, they don’t belong on the business and that’s to become world heavyweight champion. That is the one thing that is missing. I’ve won many titles from both companies and all kinds of companies across the world, but winning the world heavyweight title puts a feather in your cap…”

Possessing two titles currently, the ROH Tag Team Titles and the world six-man tag team titles, he proves that age isn’t a barrier. Notably, these became part of his achievement at the age of 55 this year. It made him realize the infinite potential, saying that in the wrestling industry, securing a world heavyweight title is a paramount goal.

Rhodes believes his journey isn’t over yet, stating, “I don’t see an end in sight for me just quite yet. Sting was a big inspiration for that because I was a huge fan of his when he was there, when I met him the first time, I started painting my face because of Sting…” Inspiration drawn from veterans like Sting, who kept going until 60 or 62 years of age, provide him with hope for continuing his career a little longer.

Rhodes is currently the reigning champion of both the ROH World Tag Team Championships and the ROH World Trios Titles. His commitment and pursuit of the World Title proves the age-old adage that age, truly, is just a number.
