In a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, wrestling personality Bully Ray voiced some concerns about a particular aspect of the MJF and Roderick Strong segment on AEW Dynamite.
MJF and Strong engaged in a promotional segment on the show last week to establish the groundwork for their upcoming match at Full Gear 2024.
Some key moments from the podcast are shared below:
On the segment stinging a bit: “When I viewed the video, it didn’t exactly sit right with me … I cannot determine whether ‘grating on my nerves’ is the exact phrasing, but it surely affected me negatively. I’ve built my career on uttering things that no one else dare to say or can say, even incited real riots with the words that I spoke … Locate the trigger and push it. Not merely push it; slam it down. Do whatever necessary to provoke feelings of revulsion.”
Regarding what he didn’t appreciate: “What irked me was the fact that Roderick Strong’s immediate reaction wasn’t captured [on MJF mentioning Strong’s mother shooting his father]. I comprehend that AEW is dealing with MJF’s absence … so, they resorted to this as the lesser evil, having MJF pre-record his promo and then getting reactions from Roddy. However, hell would freeze over before I let this opportunity pass, or fail to brainstorm a way to make this happen in real time.”
