Highlight & Low Point Of AEW Full Gear 2024? | Question Of The Day

It’s time for another round of eWrestlingNews Daily Query!

With the AEW Full Gear 2024 having played out, let’s dissect the good, the bad, and the ugly. What, in your opinion, stood out from the show, and what left you disappointed?

The question on the table today is “What are your takeaways, both good and bad, from AEW Full Gear 2024?”

Speaking of my opinion…

The part I found most lackluster was undoubtedly the Champagne Championship Celebration. Why was such content given airtime on a pay-per-view? You mean to say that after a 2 month hype, this “I clinched the title” act was the most mundane possible outcome? And it wasn’t even well executed?

Even on a regular Dynamite episode, this would have been a poor scene. But having it in a pay-per-view debased its worth. A trimmed down 4-hour run time, sans the 90-minute pre-show and this segment, would have been much more digestible. Moreover, nothing essential would have been lost from the show.

It’s astonishing that the Costco Guys bit isn’t my low point, given that it seemed more reasonable than the celebration act. Nonetheless, I’ll emphasize that the entire QT Marshall vs. “Big Boom” AJ bout should also have been televised.

The crowning moments, for me, came when Kyle Fletcher took home the win. Surprisingly, it wasn’t Daniel Garcia’s title triumph that piqued my interest. It felt a bit over the top for me. In contrast, Fletcher and Will Ospreay delivered a more thrilling match, and seeing the young pupil overcome the teacher made for a better story. Garcia’s plot with Jack Perry depicting the former as a battle-hardened veteran seemed a misplaced narrative choice to me.
