John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield, who is popularly known as JBL in the world of WWE, deeply mourns the absence of Eddie Guerrero, a fellow WWE Hall of Famer, who passed away 19 years ago.
Back in 2004, their on-screen rivalry was one of the highlights of WWE, climaxing when Layfield defeated Guerrero at the Great American Bash to win the WWE Championship.
JBL recently appeared on the popular podcast “Something to Wrestle With,” where he expressed his innermost feelings about his dear friend and professional adversary, Guerrero. In his own words,
“What a good guy. People ask me all the time, ‘What do I regret most in life?’ When you make as many mistakes as I do, you probably should regret a lot. But the thing I regret the most is that Eddie Guerrero is not here. I wish Eddie were here now so that he could be on the show with us, so I could sit around and talk to him, like the old guys, and bash the young guys for not knowing what they’re doing.”
“Eddie was such a nice person and such a great person. He influenced so many people, not just by what he did in the ring but what he did outside the ring, because of who he was. Our world has really missed out by Eddie not being here.”
Guerrero tragically passed away in November 2005 at the age of 38. He had been set to be part of the much-anticipated Survivor Series pay-per-view event that year.
Following Guerrero’s death, WWE paid homage to his memory with two dedicated tribute shows. An emotional JBL barely managed to contain his tears as he made his video tribute to the late Latino Heat.
