Wrestling notable Eric Bischoff expresses his preference for Dixie Carter over Tony Khan in a creative leadership role during the Hall of Famer’s latest criticism of All Elite Wrestling.
In a recent episode of his podcast ’83 Weeks’, Bischoff highlighted Carter’s ability to recognize and complement her weaknesses by bringing in the right people, something he felt Khan lacked.
“[Dixie] never saw herself as the leading creative force for TNA. She was keenly aware of her limitations and enlisted the help of experienced individuals to oversee that part. This makes her a superior booker to Tony Khan in my view. She acknowledged her failings and wisely chose to address them by involving the right personnel, which is a stark departure from Tony’s misguided belief in his booking prowess,” said Bischoff.
He expanded on his critique of Khan; “Tony Kahn is oblivious to his shortcomings. Given his background in data analysis, you’d expect him to gauge performance with numbers and adjust accordingly if they were unsatisfactory. That not being the case, he continues on the same path regardless of results. This is where Dixie would have diverged and implemented alternatives. Looking back, I stand by my claim that Dixie was the more adept booker.”
Dixie Carter was one of the founding members of TNA in 2002 before acquiring a majority stake in 2012, consequently becoming the principal owner. Over the years, she made multiple appearances on TNA, even taking up the role of an on-screen authority figure playing the character of a villain.
Tony Khan, on the other hand, has held the reins of AEW as President and main creative since the company’s inception in 2019, and has made a number of televised appearances.
