During a recent episode of the “Busted Open After Dark” podcast, Tommy Dreamer shared his views about AEW wrestler Kyle Fletcher. He drew comparisons between Fletcher and a young Randy Orton. Fletcher is due to face off against Will Ospreay at Full Gear 2024, set for tomorrow night.
Dreamer pointed out, “One specific wrestler who caught my attention is Kyle Fletcher, and for some reason, he brings back memories of a youthful Randy Orton when he first arrived on the WWE scene. Each week, my interest in this athlete grows, and I’m starting to see him as the future of AEW. It’s a compliment mentioning him in the same breath as Randy Orton, considering his incredible body of work. Just like Orton, Fletcher is going through his early stages, learning from his errors to evolve. This young man possesses everything. He stands out amidst eight men, and it is impossible not to notice him.”
Mercedes Mone had a candid conversation with Sports Illustrated recently, where she discussed the online hostility she encounters from wrestling fans and why she chooses to disregard it.
Mone, the present holder of the AEW TBS Championship, has her title defense against Kris Statlander lined up at Full Gear 2024 this Saturday night. Here are a few key points from the podcast:
On the subject of developing her own site, she opined, “The past two to three years have witnessed the rise of the internet where people concoct their own tales. The main reason for setting up this website was to control the narrative and regain my own voice, since I am tired of seeing these fabricated stories each day on social media.”
Addressing her strategy of indifference towards online critique, she expressed, “I stopped letting words get to me a long time ago. Earlier, I was highly affected by the internet and it could ruin my entire day.”
When asked about averting impact from it presently, she responded, “Honestly, we don’t know who is behind the keyboard. It could be bots, it could be someone like you, or some unknown person, but at the end of the day, I’m not bothered by what they have to say about me.”
