During a recent appearance on the “AEW Unrestricted” podcast, Kris Statlander discussed her forthcoming showdown with Mercedes Mone at the AEW Full Gear 2024. During the conversation, she boldly expressed her preparedness to regain her lost TBS Championship.
Statlander said, “I’m feeling more ready than ever to reclaim my throne as the TBS Champion. As we all know, Full Gear last year, I lost the title, but never got pinned for the title. I feel like if anything, this past year has really proven that I’m more worthy of a title than ever, especially given the past couple pay-per-views I’ve been very lucky to be a part of. I think it’s about time somebody knocks Mercedes off her high horse to speak because we all know who the rightful champion should be and that’s me.”
During another chat on the “Everything Is Pro Wrestling” podcast, Anthony Bowens recounted his initial hesitance in approaching wrestling great Billy Gunn when he joined AEW due to a past encounter.
Bowens had his WWE tryout in 2015, during which Gunn was serving at the WWE Performance Center. Bowens recalled the intimidating incident, saying, “I used to be scared of Billy. When I had my tryout at the Performance Center in 2015, I was doing a drill slightly incorrectly. It’s a drill where you lay on your back and get up and square off with your opponent. I went down on my back, I went up, and I saw an angry tomato red man looking at me from up above. That sight haunted me for years. I was scared to say hello to him when I first got to AEW. Now, it’s kind of funny that it went from him giving me nightmares to being my dad.”
