Tony Khan, the AEW President, is enthralled by the prospect of AEW making its debut on HBO MAX by January. He believes this step will amplify the reach of his company to nearly twice as many households as currently.
On a previous occasion, we made it clear through our report on eWn that AEW Dynamite and Collision will begin their simulcast on HBO MAX from January onwards.
In a candid conversation with Q101, Tony Khan expressed his enthusiasm about AEW’s transition to HBO MAX. He remarked,
“It was invigorating to step into November with Full Gear, an event that garners love from fans annually. The November Rain video managed to recreate that same excitement among the fans. From our perspective, it’s crucial to consider how the viewer base is growing and changing. This transformation will become more evident next year as a significant chunk of the audience gets to encounter AEW for the first time. There are people who have parted ways with cable or satellite TV, relying now on streaming platforms. Thus, airing AEW live on Max will give a broad gamut of unacquainted fans their premier experience with us.”
He added more to his excitement by stating, “Starting from January, our availability will extend to almost twice as many homes as we feature in now. It’s quite an incredible development. This would be an extremely propitious time. I hope that when AEW makes its leap to Max, it will help us gain some fresh wrestling enthusiasts and convert them into AEW fans.”
